I checked in Sunday afternoon and moved into the barracks. Meet my roommate and we are a great match. We should get along very well. Found some key points on post and than had to go back to check in and sign in on the computer. I experienced my first ‘hurry up and wait’ exercise. We waited 3 hours for a 1 minute check in; the benefit was we got to meet a lot of people so it all worked out.
Our living conditions are not too bad; we have a nice twin bed, shower with hot water and a fridge and freezer. We get new towels daily and sheets changed weekly. We received a meal card so we can eat three times a day at the Dinning hall which the foods pretty good and huge variety. What more could you ask for??
Monday thru Wednesday we did in processing which consist of paper work and more paper work, over all it was pretty organized however there were 150 of us and LOTS of people had questions or got lost on the papers so we than all had to wait for them to get caught up. Little annoying.
We stated physical training (PT) on Wednesday at 0500 preparing for APFT (our test) on Friday, worked out several times in preparations for the test but when came down to it didn’t quit make it so am now PTing M-F 0500, at least I have a standard schedule right!!
We also brook into our Platoons and I am in the 5th (Mighty 5th, ever ready) and we have a great group, mix of all different backgrounds and everyone seems to get along well. I don’t for see any problems at this time.
I was very anxious about getting started and now week one is over, I can’t believe it. I still look around and can’t believe I am really in the Army!!
