Update
Hello my fans!!! I am so sorry haven’t update sooner. It has been a little crazy getting started and settling in!! So here you go, lots of info and some good pics. Hope you enjoy and will talk soon. Miss you all!!
Week Two
Had Sunday off to recover and get ready for week two which is only 4 days, Hooah!!
I am not real sure what I learned, each day our instructors continued to pound information into our brains one topic after the next and really not sure what all I really remember, they say as long as I retain 10-20% should be ok, haha!!
After PT in the AM I am feeling great and ready to go but than going to sit in class makes for a long day and a couple times needed some caffeine to get though. Hopefully it should get better.
We have one more week of class room than out to the field, I can’t wait!!
Our 4 days off have been very nice to catch up on sleep and relax. Friday we went out on the River walk and had a great time, Saturday saw the Alamo (not as exciting as I had hoped) and walked around the River walk which is pretty cool. Had some great food than spent the evening bowling, who would have guessed!!
Sunday spent the day lying around and Monday headed for a hike, very excited.
The hardest thing to catch on to is the lingo, we have so many acronyms it really is not even funny. The hardest thing is if you say the letters individually or make them into a new word. It’s a whole new language. Slowly catching on!!
Overall I don’t for see a problem getting used to the Army thing!

Week One
I checked in Sunday afternoon and moved into the barracks. Meet my roommate and we are a great match. We should get along very well. Found some key points on post and than had to go back to check in and sign in on the computer. I experienced my first ‘hurry up and wait’ exercise. We waited 3 hours for a 1 minute check in; the benefit was we got to meet a lot of people so it all worked out.
Our living conditions are not too bad; we have a nice twin bed, shower with hot water and a fridge and freezer. We get new towels daily and sheets changed weekly. We received a meal card so we can eat three times a day at the Dinning hall which the foods pretty good and huge variety. What more could you ask for??
Monday thru Wednesday we did in processing which consist of paper work and more paper work, over all it was pretty organized however there were 150 of us and LOTS of people had questions or got lost on the papers so we than all had to wait for them to get caught up. Little annoying.
We stated physical training (PT) on Wednesday at 0500 preparing for APFT (our test) on Friday, worked out several times in preparations for the test but when came down to it didn’t quit make it so am now PTing M-F 0500, at least I have a standard schedule right!!
We also brook into our Platoons and I am in the 5th (Mighty 5th, ever ready) and we have a great group, mix of all different backgrounds and everyone seems to get along well. I don’t for see any problems at this time.
I was very anxious about getting started and now week one is over, I can’t believe it. I still look around and can’t believe I am really in the Army!!

Waiting to Report
So here I am sitting in San Antonio, TX waiting to sign into Fort Sam Houston tomorrow and get started to see where this path leads.
Earlier this week, I went with my family to Des Moines and commissioned into active duty. It meant the world to have my family present while I said my oath and Captain G was great and I really appreciated him thanking my family for their support. Had all my final questions answered and now I wait for what is to come.
I will post later this week as the first couple days are in processing stuff, aka paper work.
